Irwin Park Amphitheatre:
This small, outdoors amphitheatre is located in Irwin Park, built in 1985.
Outdoor concerts are held here each year, usually featuring local musical
groups. For seating, spectators can bring blankets or lawn chairs, and there
is no charge to view the concerts.
Little Knights Kingdom:
This children’s playground is located in Irwin Park, built in 1994. The
playground is entirely wooden with a bridge that leads to the play area. It
is large and easily accessible by the handicapped.
Norwin Public Library:
This public library is located on 100 Caruthers Lane in Irwin. Monday through
Thursday, it is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, the library
is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information can be found about it on

Irwin Country Club
This country club contains a public 18-hole regulation length course. It is
70 par with over five thousand yards and a 66 rating with a 117 slope. There
is a 32 dollar green fee on the weekends and a 28 dollar green fee on the
weekdays. It is located at 594 Simpson Road, and the contact number is 724-863-6016.
Carradam Golf Club
This club contains a public 18-hole regulation length course. It is 71 par
with almost six thousand yards and a 68 rating with a 113 slope. There is
a 33 dollar green fee on the weekends and a 32 dollar green fee on the weekdays.

Historical
Attractions James Irwin House
This house was built by James Irwin, father of
the founder of Irwin, PA, John Irwin. Originally
a log structure, the house was built in 1783.
James also founded the village of Jacksonville.
Braddock’s
Camp
General Braddock’s old military camp site,
known as “Three Springs” was set
in 1755. The location is at the intersection
of what is now Clay Pike and Robbins Station
Road.
Larimer House
This house, built in 1790, is located at the
corner of Maus Drive and Clay Pike Road. It
was built by Wm. & Ann Larimer and once
was the homestead of Gen. Wm. Larimer, Jr.,
who founded Denver, Colorado. In the past,
the house was a craft store and luncheon café.
It is now being restored as a home again by
the current owners.
Brush Hill
This house was built in 1798 by Colonel John
Irwin, the founder of Irwin. It was the first “mansion-scale” home
built west of the Allegheny Mountains. It was
also the center of a 300 acre plantation. It
is now privately-owned.
Fort Walthour
This area was established in 1774, a the plantation
of Christopher Walthour, as a stockade and
an area of refuge by the settlers to protect
against the Indian raids. It overlooks what
is now the Kohl’s parking lot.
Fullerton House
This house was built in 1798 by the Fullerton
family and was the area’s first general
store and second inn. It is now privately-owned.
McIntyre House
The McIntyre House was established in the 1840’s
and was one of the most famous hotels in Pennsylvania
at the time. It was also the first stagecoach
stop, in addition to being one of the stops in
the Underground Railroad.
John Irwin House
This house was built in 1836 by John Irwin, nephew
of Colonel John Irwin. It was once an inn that
served many stagecoach passengers. It located
on what is now the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue
and Main Street.
Adam Saam
Adam Saam was a prominent figure in Irwin’s
history, participating in the
Battle of Bushy Run. Saam’s house was also
a refuge for settlers in the area, and he also
patented 209 acres of land near Circleville.
The marker for Saam is currently located in the
North Huntingdon Township building, as it was
damaged in a hit-and-run car accident in 1995. |
